Kim Morral worked with Dr Jordi Morral from the University of Huddersfield to evaluate a workshop for pharmacy students. An article of the study findings has been published in Sci. Pharm.

Background

This educational research project evaluates the impact of a workshop with pharmacy students. The workshop was designed to form part of the practical work of two modules taught in the second year of the MPharm degree. Kim Morral helped with the analysis and writing up of quantitative data.

Aim

A workshop was designed and implemented to enhance pharmacy students’ appreciation of the importance of chemistry for pharmacy practice. The evaluation aimed to ascertain the impact of the intervention on pharmacy students’ appreciation of the importance of chemistry for pharmacy practice.

Method

Feedback from participating students was collected via two survey instruments administered before and after participation in the workshop.

Findings

The survey results showed a clear shift towards a more positive perception by students of the chemistry taught in the MPharm curriculum.
