Caroline has been a researcher since 1999 after gaining a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Sociology. She first worked at Brighton University (UK) in the Health and Social Policy Research Centre, where she was involved in a range of projects. After moving to Yorkshire in 2001, she worked for the Centre for Health Promotion Research at Leeds Metropolitan University. Her research projects include a Help the Aged project about older people and loneliness, evaluations of local Sure Start programmes, and a Department for Transport study about how parents teach their children about road safety. More recently (June 2009–June 2012), she was the Research Officer for the Leeds Independent Living Project which involved working alongside eight service user researchers from mental health and learning disability services. Caroline has also recently worked on a qualitative study for an NHS Trust which involved interviewing patients and carers and an evaluation of a volunteering scheme. During these research projects, she used different methods to find out peoples’ views and experiences, including interviews, focus groups, questionnaires, photography, drama and drawing. Caroline has acted as a Research Associate for Qualitas Research since 2012. Caroline has been an Associate Researcher with Qualitas Research since 2012.
Associate Research Assistant
Sam Fuglestad is a freelance research analyst and administrator, offering support as a research assistant to clients when needed. She has a degree in Psychology and an Advanced Certificate in Market and Social Research Practice (Market Research Society). After working in the Post Office research team, she became a freelancer 10 years ago, and has extensive experience in qualitative analysis using frameworks, working with prominent social research clients. She also has a developing interest in mental health research. Sam is very organised and as well as charting (qualitative analysis) she offers services such as transcription, telephone interviewing, topic guide and report drafting, and project co-ordination. Sam has provided research support services to Qualitas Research including qualitative analysis and audio transcription of research interviews.
